Your Honest Opinion Lands Harder Than You Expected
A tense conversation may begin with someone asking what you really think. You answer plainly, then realize they wanted reassurance, not your unfiltered assessment of their relationship, job, or latest decision. Still, the timing and shape of your honesty matter. A truth delivered like a verdict can close the very conversation that might have helped both of you understand each other.
Ask whether the person wants advice, a listening ear, or your perspective on one specific point.
