The Boundary That Changes an Important Relationship
A significant relationship may improve only after you establish a boundary that you previously avoided. You may have worried that speaking up would create conflict or cause someone to withdraw. However, continuing to suppress your frustration has probably created a different kind of distance. September encourages you to express what has been bothering you before resentment becomes harder to resolve.
This boundary might involve your time, emotional availability, money, privacy, or the amount of responsibility you carry for someone else. Cancer often becomes the dependable person others call when they need comfort or practical help. Although that role can feel meaningful, it becomes exhausting when people expect constant support without considering what you need. You are allowed to care deeply without making yourself responsible for everyone’s stability.
The reaction you receive will reveal the true quality of the relationship. Someone who respects you may need time to adjust, but they will eventually understand why the boundary matters. A person who becomes angry simply because you stopped making everything convenient for them may expose an imbalance that was already present.
